Acts 8: 9-25

God’s presence and healing love are so powerful that sometimes we misunderstand their source.  Unfortunately – like Simon, we begin to believe that since money seems to equal power in daily life, it might equal love or blessing or worthiness.  We can’t buy or sell the power of the Holy Spirit with money.  Money can, however, buy health care, housing, nutrition, and education (and in our society – voice, popularity, and influence).  What if instead of making Simon’s mistake and trying to control the Spirit with money, we followed the gospel and invited the Spirit to determine how we use and share our wealth?
