Mary, Joseph, and Jesus fled to Egypt. They escaped the horror of Herod’s massacre, and Jesus was able to grow and thrive. What if Egypt had refused them. What if Egypt had cooperated with Herod? How can we welcome Jesus’ story and say we welcome Jesus, if we are not prepared to welcome all who flee violence and seek safety?
