Isaiah 11:1-10

“Justice Leads to Peace”

One is coming, writes Isaiah, “a shoot…from the branch of Jesse,” upon whom the spirit of the Lord shall rest.  We will know that one through justice and righteousness exercised for the poor and meek, and by a powerful word and abiding faithfulness.  And there shall be a presence of peace – wolves and lambs living together, lions will eat straw….  If this is the vision we celebrate, how can we honor it and walk toward it?  What prevents us?  How might we live and love so that the world around us sees and feels this vision that guides and empowers our faith community?  How might the songs on our lips as well as the deeds of our hands show forth the vision we proclaim?
