What?

A study of global poverty using Guatemala as an example.  The documentary “Living On One Dollar” is the story of a group of young men who journeyed to the indigenous village of Peña Blanca, Guatemala to live on $1 a day for 56 days.

What they learned is shared through a powerful documentary and the accompanying Change Series.  Additionally biblical text and other resources will be used as a basis for discussion and study.

Why?

To learn how and why 1.1 billion people in the world live on $1 dollar a day or less.

To understand the causes and effects of poverty and how they cause a cycle of poverty in the families, communities, and countries where extreme poverty exists.

To recall Jesus’ teachings calling us to care for the poor.

To discern our own role  in caring for the poor in today’s world and how we can take action.

Who?

Taught by Denise Pahl and others, hosted by Koinonia.  All are invited!
