Affton Christian Church, 9625 Tesson Ferry Road, will provide a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 28 – Thanksgiving Day. The Rev. David Woodard, lead pastor of the church, says, “This is the 5th year we are offering this free meal to the community. We know that many people continue to struggle, not only with finances, but also with feeling alone in the world.”
Last year the church served over 320 meals. This year they are preparing to serve 400 meals to those in Affton and adjacent communities.
Volunteers are needed to make this happen! You can:
- Sign up for 1 of 3 shifts, or the whole day if you want (10:30-12, 12-1:30, 1-3:30).
- Bring dinner rolls.
- Help with deliveries or pick ups. If folks from WGCC are involved, we can expand our radius of service.
- Help organize volunteers when they show up to serve their shifts
- An opportunity may also exist to provide a worship service at the senior care facility across the street.
As you can see, opportunities (not unlike the cornucopia of blessings for which we give thanks) are plenteous!
