Trusting God and following Jesus challenges us to let go of so much – fear, presuppositions, dishonesty, and our over-reliance on wealth and power. It’s hard to embrace Jesus or our neighbor while we cling to so much else. Zacchaeus saw how he had been living. He released that life and embraced a new one. When that happened, Jesus could truly say, “Today salvation has come to this house.”
